Scripture Reading: Matthew 4:1
Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
When one surrenders to the Holy Spirit it is not a one-time occurrence that happens when we are born again. Daily, moment by moment we must surrender to the person of the Holy Spirit. It is very easy to see believers who are yielding to the Holy Spirit and believers who are not. Galatians 6:15 ‘For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.‘ Believers who are led by the Spirit of God will have victory over sin, and the power to witness (Acts 1:8). When believers surrender to the Spirit they will possess the fruit of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22).
A spirit-controlled life, however, does not happen overnight. It takes submission and much patience. Obedience is required, and confession of sins is demanded.
Today and every moment of each day give back your life to God as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1), and surrender your life to the Holy Spirit’s control.
Lord Jesus, I yield to you today, give me patience, reveal to me my sins. I repent of every sin, and I desire to be obedient to your Word.Amen.
