Read John 14:15-27 Key Scripture: John 14:17
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him; but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
No one enjoys being ignored or neglected. It hurts enough when a stranger ignores us, but even more when those intimately close to us ignore us. We want to have the close attention of those we love and cherish.
Through Christ, we have an intimate connection with God, the Father. God lives within us by His Spirit. Although the Holy Spirit is always so close to us, often, as believers, we are not mindful of his presence. Sure, we think about His presence at church, or in our times of devotion, but what about the rest of our life? Are you attentive when the Holy Spirit is speaking? Are you constantly aware of God’s desires? Are you intimately conscious and mindful of God’s presence?
The Holy Spirit is constantly speaking to our hearts. He is there to guide us through our day. And, He encourages us through our difficulties and challenges. He wants us to know God’s deepest desires for us. But are we listening and following? Or, are we ignoring him?
We must cultivate an intimate walk with God. One in which we are always intimately aware of His presence, voice, and leading. We should walk so close to Him that we may even sense the slightest brush of His Spirit.
Let’s not hurt the Holy Spirit by neglecting or ignoring Him. Rather, let us cultivate an intimate walk with God.
Lord, help me to have a closer walk with you, in Jesus Name. Amen
